Winnipeg High Divers Competing at World Aquatics High Diving Junior World Championships! October 11-13th

Two Winnipeg athletes are touring the world on a whirlwind of exciting opportunities in the sport of High Diving. Red Bull invited only 7 “next generation” high divers with one athlete respectively from Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Mexico, Ukraine, and TWO from Winnipeg! Alex Tiaglei (19) and Zita Bernatsky (17) attended this highly exclusive Red Bull Cliff Diving training camp called “Red Bull High School” in Austria, September 12-18. Coached by High Diving legend, Orlando Duque, they had 3 diving sessions from the high platforms at Area47 followed by physical testing and classroom sessions on nutrition and psychology at the Red Bull HQ Athlete Performance Centre.
Zita Bernatsky also attend a Junior Training Camp put on by Diving Canada in conjunction with the Red Bull Cliff Diving spot in Montreal in July. She was the only female athlete not already participating in the event invited to train on the platforms. Her dives there turned heads, and two days after the event, Red Bull Cliff Diving named Zita as a wildcard for the next stop in Antalya, Turkey, September 27-29.
Alex and Zita are now preparing to compete for Team Canada in the first ever World Aquatics High Diving Junior World Championships in Brasilia, October 7-12.
